16/01802/FUL Demolition of the existing entrance and the erection of a glazed entrance porch.
The Kirkgate is a block of offices with brick elevations, built in 1990. Its entrance is of little
architectural merit and this application proposes its replacement with a two-storey glazed structure. The planning statement claims that this will improve the external appearance of the building and create an attractive entrance.
The Society totally disagrees with this claim, due to the proposed entrance being inconsistent with both the building and the surroundings in terms of size and appearance. We therefore recommended refusal.
