Demolition of existing buildings on site. Redevelopment of site to provide a mixed use development comprising a retail foodstore with 6 residential units above, with associated car parking, landscaping and access arrangements.

This is the long-anticipated application to build an Aldi supermarket with residences above on what was the Dairy Crest site in Alexandra Road.

The Society believes this development is undesirable for a number of reasons, including dilution of the town centre focus, loss of land designated for purely residential purposes, conflict with the designated retail development on the nearby Depot Road site, and concerns over traffic issues on a main road into Epsom. We believe it to be contrary to a number of established planning policies and have thus strongly recommended refusal.
