The change of use of 5 blocks to 15 no. residential units (C3) from staff consulting rooms (D1), office accommodation (B1) and patient living accommodation (C2) and works to improve the external appearance and energy efficiency of the proposed dwellings.

The earlier application (13/01083/FUL) for this development was refused last February for the sole reason that it failed to make appropriate provision for affordable housing. The applicant has decided to appeal but in the meantime has resubmitted the previous the identical application with a revised offer in respect of affordable housing.

The Society considers the proposals a welcome conversion of this former nurses’ accommodation into useful additions to the housing stock and hopes that a solution to the always controversial matter of viability assessment can be found to enable this development to proceed.
