This application is for the construction of a new dwelling on an extremely narrow plot lying between The Pines (listed Grade II) and Friars Garth.
The Committee discussed the application due to its innovative design on a very difficult small plot. While the contemporary design seemed preferable to a more conventional approach due to the size of the plot, we were concerned that the large blank limestone clad wall adjoining The Pines was overbearing and would be improved by the inclusion of some sort of feature, perhaps windows, if these suited the internal arrangements. However, this was raised as a suggestion rather than an objection to the proposal.
