14/00760/FUL Acer House 97-101 East Street
Application for demolition and change of use of vacant D1 premises and erection of 2-3 storey building to accommodate 14 No Flats for C3 use.
Acer House, originally apparently three dwellings but last used as a care home, has been vacant since 2011 and was recently removed from local listing. The application proposes demolition of the existing buildings and erection of a block of 14 flats.
The Society objected to the scale of the development, inadequate parking provision and unattractive appearance, but the application was allowed after amendments reducing the number of flats from 14 to 12.
Our original letter can be found here.
However, following a fire in the property before it was demolished, a new application 14/01837/FUL was submitted, reverting to 14 flats but, by extending the building at first and second floor levels over part of the car park, increasing the parking spaces to 11.
The Society remains concerned about both parking provision and overdevelopment. Our further letter can be found here.
