This application proposes the demolition of the 2-storey building at 79 East Street, now occupied by Bar XLR, and the erection of a four-storey building containing 6 2-bed flats with a small shop or office on the ground floor and 6 parking places.
Despite some reservations, namely the fact that the building will occupy the entire plot leaving no room for landscaping and planting or for setting the building back a little from the boundary, and our concern that the proposed small unit/office might remain empty, the Society felt the proposal to be acceptable and housing a good use of the plot.
