24/00487/FLH Detached single storey annexe in rear garden
Using the “Comments” facility on the EEBC Planning website, the Society objected to the latest proposal as set out below:-
Detached buildings in residential gardens should be confined to workshops, working from home offices, sheds and buildings which are sized within the permitted allowances for size, height etc. all of which are for ancillary daytime use by the residents of the house. Accommodation for sleeping and full-time living should not be permitted.
The application is contrary to DM16 reference backland development.
The applicant property is known to be a large house and has been added to by recent extensions. It is considered that elderly parents should be accommodated within the house and it is unsatisfactory to be subject to traversing externally between buildings.
It is noted that, if approved, Surrey Highways seek to secure the house driveway having upgraded junction improvements. This suggests that the proposal within the application could cause increased traffic movements and something more than just a “granny annex” would give rise to.
Refusal is requested. Approval would likely to set a precedent for the building to house permanent separated accommodation which is inappropriate.
