The Society has long sought to preserve the existing house, the last of its style and period in this part of Alexandra Road. Previous applications have been refused, the latest being appealed and only dismissed for the lack of provision of affordable housing.
Three applications have now been made concurrently, the third of which proposes conversion of the existing house into three apartments plus the addition of a new building at the rear with six apartments.
The other two both propose demolition and replacement with either ten or fourteen apartments, the latter including some affordable housing provision.
The Society has accordingly written three letters, supporting the retention of the building and recommending refusal of the other two.
