Proposed student accommodation (77 units) contained within 9 buildings (units over three levels) and associated parking, bicycle spaces and landscaping.
A previous application was made by an option holder for the erection of 10 dwellings (12/00448/FUL) which was refused on grounds of overdevelopment and loss of wildlife habitat, but was permitted on appeal in the summer of 2013. This was not implemented and the present application is for 11 student homes.
The principle of development on this land, however undesirable, has effectively been established by the previous Appeal, but the Society believes that approval of the change of use must rest on whether a need for further student accommodation in this area can be fully established, and a management scheme implemented to guarantee prevention of disturbance and nuisance in a residential area by such a large increase in residents.
